Erm, last two days was quite fruitless in school. spent most of my time sleeping in school. I don't know why but I just feel like switching off and go to sleep when I am in school. Haha. I don't care. Anyway was trying to finsh J2 Bio by yesterday and I failed miserably. J2 topics are so much more dry, longer and more sleep-inducing. I only managed two topics both yesterday and today.
Haha, yesterday was a happy day. I started the day with a Bio tutorial and got back the paper that I did on Monday on Option topics. Wow, I scored 10/15 for the first structured, 11/15 for the second structured and 17/20 for the essay. I am especially proud of my essay because I did not study for it and I have never got a score like this my whole JC life. It is kind of rejuvenating, good for gaining confidence before A's! Shall finish my J2 Bio by the end of tomorrow then. Then I slept through most of the lectures so the day was like kind of a breeze. Went out after school and it is like one of the first time me going out with money in my pocket. Haha, had fun doing window shopping at Westmall.
Yesterday I ended up sleeping during study time because I was so tired. I usually take an afternoon nap so since I went out I did not have the chance. That also explains the low number of topics I did for bio for the past two days. Today I did last year November paper Chem P1. I got a super low 21/40 and was demoralized again. Hopefully I can pull myself together for Chem again.

Wednesday 28.9.2005
- $2 for yong tau foo.
- $1.40 for Flossss by Breadtalk (So sinful, could have bought a whole loaf)
Mr. Kuna had been a source of inspiration to me this whole week. He actually made a card especially for everyone of us. Should post his 'Chem humour' online when I have the time. Ok, next lesson coming. Time to go. Bye!
Yay! Had a fruitful weekend. I actually finished the whole of J1 Bio though I think I actually could have done it faster. I spent a lot of time slacking. Not bad, at least now I can participate more actively and rewardingly in class. Haha. Realized that the second week had ended and I have yet to finish one subject. That is much too slow. I am already running out of time. Especially for Maths. Did one and a half J2 topics just now during study time, hmmm, think that’s better than nothing.
Yay! The much-awaited scholarship money came last Saturday morning, and I could not have been happier. After all, I had been semi-starving for a bit more than a month already. However, it also deeply saddens me because this is probably the last time I am ever going to receive scholarship money from MOE. Haha. Better put it to good use. Think I better record down what I did with the money everyday diligently to find out how my money had been spent. This may guide me away from unwise purchases.
So here’s how I used the money.
Saturday 24.9.2005
· Spent $30.30 at NTUC for bread, peanut butter, shampoo, facial foam etc…
Sunday 25.9.2005
· Returned $13 to Ky Meng for food fines that I owed him.
Monday 26.9.2005
· $85 for Senior’s Night
· $2 for lunch (mixed rice)
Realized blogging is becoming more and more dangerous nowadays. You can be jailed for your blog if it contained remarks that may start a revolt, racist, too nationalistic, fundamentalism preaching, extremism, etc… Haha. So here’s a disclaimer, I really do not mean any harm to anyone. Hey, I may sometimes be too critical in criticizing, but please don’t take it to heart, because it only gives us all room to improve. One such issue is the water issue. There are two facts about it. One, Singapore is no longer a third world or second world country and therefore it cannot expect cheap water. Second, counting all the inflation all these years, 10 Malaysian sen for 30 gallons of water is much too cheap. You can practically drown yourself in 10 sen of water.
Fun O Rama coupons last call! I am going to return all the coupons tomorrow. Please order order order and support AC!
Study hard everyone. Me too. =)
“Life is just a dream, so keep the dream alive!”
Haha,
Was reading HWM just now, and it says that blogs are produced by average people who thinks that their lives is interesting. Sometimes, and they talk about is what they ate over lunch. Hmmm, that was interesting. Imagine one day I look back and see what I eat for lunch everyday. Won't that be interesting? (Actually, it is boring! I eat the same thing everyday at school) Seriously, are blogs becoming boring? I don't think so. I have lots to say even though I am soing the same things everyday.
Yay! I finally finished doing the class page two days ago. It was very interesting as most of the photos were blur so I had to re-edit them all. One by one. Interesting part is how some photos turned out hilarious after editing. Haha, shall post some of these hilarious picture soon. Really think my photo editing skills not bad (shameless self-promotion)... Haha. The final product turned out quite professional! =) Shall post the class page somewhere as well.
Hmmm, I had been doing things pretty much at my own pace and found that my pace is actually too slow. Was actually very tired over the past few days, refusing to leave my bed after every nap/sleep. I only did one Chem paper over the last two days, apart from the class page which had also occupied a significant amount of time. Week 2 is coming to an end and I cannot beliecve how I am managing. Before I know it, it would be week 6. I really have to speed up.
We had a discussion about nature vs. nurture toaday during Gp class. (Actually that was my prelims paper) Esther's essay was chosen to be uploaded to the Gp website! How come mine isn't? We did the same question! =p Haha, wonders and wonders. How come she can write twice the no. of pages that I write at the same amount of time? I agree I must be too slow. Must do lots of speed writing training in order to have enough time in all my papers. I realized I did not have enough time for many papers. Maybe it is my nature that I write slow!
We had Honour's Night rehearsal on Tuesday after school. I was so sleepy I almost fell asleep even though we were supposed to sit upright and be attentive. The last two days had been really tiring! Not bad, I would be getting my certificate quite early as compared to the rest. I am in row 3! Then I can relax as all the parents would be paying their attention on the rest of the awardees. Now shall go home, iron my shirt, groom myself and then come back to receive my award! Maybe add a short afternoon nap... =) By the way, I think girls really look good in stockings. Just a minor observation...
Hee, hee, was supposed to write 2 essays for the morning during Bio double period.. Due to a mix up I had only managed one question. Madam wrote 9.57 on the board, so I thought stop at 9.57. I only realized that our lesson only last till 9.10 when she said hand in your answers at 8.57. I was shocked as I was just about to finish my last sentence of my first question. Anyway, think it was lucky as I had absolutely no idea about the rest of the questions. At least then I can write as much as possible because it was a topic I studied over the last weekend.
This morning, I woke up early from bed, but I am sooo tired I refused to get off the bed until about 6.50. Hmmm, suddenly the bed seemed so cosy, even though some springs are already giving way. I have so so much to do. Realized I have to survive without lunch today. I did not bring any money. Never mind, being able to experience hunger would be a wonderful life experience. After all, some people fast for religious reasons. Haha. I wonder why I get hungry so fast? Should I do some reaserch on hypoglycemic index?
I dread going to lecture... I want to sleep... And I have another Physics lecture now. Why? Why? Why?
Oh no, my legs was shaking and I felt kind of light and dizzy. Am I falling sick so soon? Maybe my body is no longer used to this prolonged enthusiasm. I dragged myself to dinner and fell asleep yet again on the dinner table. Until after prep time my legs were still shaking and I had a feeling it is going to collapse. Better get Vitamin C, I don’t want to get sick. Not especially now. Spent the whole prep time finishing RJ Prelims 2002 Gp Compre Paper. Not bad, it is a good achievement though I had hoped to accomplish more. Looks like Kuna’s paper would have to wait some more.
I had a look at the original photos for my class page. Hmmm, I was a bit disappointed because they were not very clear. Hmmm, think something must have happened in between transfers. The file sizes were very surprisingly small (all below 100KB) and my second thought was that the Cd had been wasted. True enough, the data only occupied 3.41MB and the Cd had a capacity 700MB. Most of the pictures need work. After experimenting for a while, I gained confidence with the unclear photos, rendering them clear enough for class page purposes. Among other interesting things I did was that I managed to make everyone’s school uniform shine so bright that everyone looked like an Angel. And can you imagine Seraphina having lighter skin tones that Cheryl? =p Interesting right? However I decided to abandon and continue tomorrow as I am now very tired and there is a long day ahead of me.
Survived one day in this tiring week. Even today was tiring. There are too many double periods and these double periods usually seem much longer than they really are. After recess I have a Physics tutorial followed by a Physics lecture and think that things are going to be this way every Monday. After Physics come the really tiring part, double Gp. The timed essay went well for me though I was crapping half the way. I did a question on education even though the scope was nothing like the information I had loaded up the night before. Rather, the question is shaped such that we argue for and against flexible and varied education system. The goals of education may come in handy here but not other information. I hate it when I have lots of information, but there is none that I can use. Nevertheless, I churned out a 2 and 2/3 of a page; the longest so far in a class timed assignment. Haha, I am really serious this time, I am going to do my best.
Immediately after school I had to rush straight into Gel lesson and today, I am the only guy down there. Handy had changed day to some other day and Joon Yeng was nowhere to be seen. I was very hungry, luckily the teacher allowed me to go for lunch before the lesson. I took a quick lunch, about 10 minutes before I rush back into the class again. I had intended to eat my lunch during recess but something weird happened. I had lost my bag! Actually maybe someone took it but I ended up rushing into a class full of people, attentive during lesson and it was an embarrassment. Anyway, later I found out that Angel had taken my bag (Thank you, Angel!) but I found it too late to have lunch. Then I thought I could go without lunch today but my stomach growled so much during Gp timed essay that I am positive I am not going to make it without lunch.
Ouch! The money is still not here yet… And I have no money to pay for seniors’ night, though I really want to attend. It is probably the last time I am going to see many people but come to think of it, many people are not attending anyway. So maybe the last time I am ever going to see many of my school friends may be today, tomorrow or the day after, or yesterday. Speaking about money, I am really desperate. With $1.50 in my bank account since prelims, I had survived on bread and peanut butter. I have now come to a point that I may no longer afford anymore peanut butter and bread. Think now I should go finish my Gel compre, then I can ask my roommate to help me hand up tomorrow. Work, work, work! Tomorrow I would have timed essay for Biology. Hmmm, Biology essays have always been my weakness. Will I survive?
Just had a great chapel in the morning! Haha, was sitting next to Cheryl, and she corrects her shirt very frequently, in every less than 5 minutes. And the part which Mr. Sum asked us to all hold hands and pray, I realized that her hands are real soft! =) Nothing much behind this, just a minor observation. Think what Mr. Loo said about blogging is true. When we are studying, we end up blogging everything that we are studying. Haha, and I think to myself, why not? It is a good way to refresh my memories on what I have studied. Some of the study strategies are also what I think that would work for me, just that I never had time to implement it.
After that I had a Biology practise paper. It is actually November 2004 Paper 2. Hmmm, there was a time limit and I couldn't answer question 1 because I still have lack of knowledge about that chapter. The next few questions I really gave it all I had because they were all from the five chapters that I have studied last Saturday. Speak about real good luck. Even though the last question were easy, I did not have sufficient time to earn the eight marks so they ended up down the drain as well. Going page by page, I had thrown away 3 pages out of 12 and I am likely to make mistakes in the other 9. Should have calmed myself for the last question, then I would make it 11 out of 12. Regrets again... Never mind, after this is double Physics followed by a double Gp of which I have another practice paper. Hopefully I would have no regrets this time round. What really turns me off is that after my double Gp, I have another triple Gp for extra lesson. I am going to cry cry cry...
Over the past two days I had tried very hard to compensate for what I have done at the prelims. I am actually quite amazed by myself that I still have this little bit of enthusiasm and fervour(more commonly known as fervor, the US version as it is used in Dota). Over the past two days I actually completed revising five chapters of Biology, did one Gp essay, read up a lot about Gp, did much reflections and post mortem on prelim papers, load up on some Gp points etc. Hopefully I would do well again in the class Gp timed assignment tomorrow. Currently trying to load education, women, and maybe advertising. Youth is a bit hard. The rest I have absolutely no idea. Oh no, tomorrow is going to be a long day again, with extra classes starting right after school and starching for 2 hours. Not to mention before that I would have the Gp timed essay. Hmmm, will I survive? This week is going to be a tiring week. Honours night week with lots of rehearsals and that means no afternoon nap this week.
Today I checked the atm, and money has yet to reach us. Hmmm, maybe that is good as that will prevent us from spending. Think this time I will keep a journal on how I spend my $600 online and that hopefully help me know where I spend most and then I can cut down there. From the looks of it, think food is where most of the money will go. Hopefully too, that would deter me from unwise purchases. Anyway, I found my place replete with rubbish and I can never finish throwing them. How am I going to move out in 3 months time? Some of them have no use to me anymore but it would be a great waste to throw away, such as those O level’s textbooks and tys(s). Others are souvenirs that held a lot of sentimental values. I really do not have space to store them anymore but I really don’t feel like throwing them away. Anyway, my father is going to throw all of them away when I bring them back to Malaysia. It is just a matter of time.
Too much reading and writing these two days had taken the toll on me. Today I actually learnt a few new words from 1100 words. I had felt guilty leaving it behind and since it may have been one of the reasons why I did poorly, why not finish it? The money had already been spent and it would be a waste if I don’t put it to good use. Furthermore, I have a dictionary with me, learning new words would be a breeze? I can even use them here at my blog, just to practice using them. Without using them, my mind would soon forget. I think we would forget things once we do not deal with them. Therefore, to peak ourselves for the upcoming A’s, we have to have a balance of practice in all the subjects per day. My suggestion to myself is therefore have half an hour of each subject per day instead of loading a single subject per day. Tired tired tired and ahead of me is another tiring week. Oh, how I miss the exams weeks.
Good morning to all! Spent most of yesterday sleeping and I am amazed that I was still able to sleep at night. Took a almost 5 hours nap. In the end, I ended up sleeping at 2, and now I am awake again, after sleeping more than 9 hours. Total was more than 14 hours. The thought about my prelims results still deeply saddens me thought I already felt much better as compared to yesterday.
Wow! I finally know how to 'repair' my keyboard. Now I can type whenever I want and not wait until it works. The key to make it work is to bang it hard on the floor at a certain angle. (Hey, I am an expert at it! I rarely take a second bang!) My hard-disk started to make weird noises and I really think it is time for a new computer altogether. (Especially after ATI Radeon X700 is now so cheap and so much better than my NVIDIA FX5200) Thinking about money also deeply saddens me. I am now into negative funds. I owe a lot of people money. I have no money to pay for seniors' night and the sad thing is, when you need to conserve money, a lot of necessities run out at almost the same time. My facial foam is out. Think my toothpaste and hair shampoo can last me for just another one day or two. My pi pa gao that I rely so much on when I have sore throat has just two tablespoons left. Thankfully, my Ribena bottle still has lots of juice, and can churn out more after it is diluted. Sometimes, it works very well as a quick fix when I am hungry.
Now dreaming about my possible next computer. (That is if I am able to work in Singapore and earn some money) Should I make it a laptop? (More environmentally friendly if you do not use the battery, since it generate less heat and uses less power altogether and therefore much more energy efficient) But, since usually I look out for quality, I usually would not settle for budget laptops even though they may have same specifications as the higher ends one. The specifications for my dream laptop is as follows, 1.7gHz Sonoma (Intel Pentium M build 915), ATI Radeon X700, 1gig DDR RAM, the rest would not need much details. Currently budget companies are giving the following prices (after scouting much, ACER about $2600 and Dell about $2900). I would be trying to go for Fujitsu Lifebook (thin, light, generate less heat, class etc.) or a Sony Vaio (most of the above, very bright and clear Lcd, glam, class etc.) but both of them clearly would exceed $4000. Hmmm, at such price I may settle for a Powerbook altogether, after all it is the most energy saving, the most high class, the most glam!) One thing I marvel about a Mac is its operating system. The operating system is so clean that it hardly hangs. There is no registry, (even the programs for Mac OS are clean) which accounts for most Windows Xp Sp2 boot lag, especially when you only have 256MB of RAM. I personally did not upgrade to Sp2, and still using Sp1. Probably because my com hardly gets online and I know how to get rid of ad-wares through the registry. I have 256MB of RAM and they are 100Mhz SD RAM, one of the most primitive now. Plus, the Mac OS just looks so chio! Powerbook usually comes with slot-in drive which looks so super professional (until your disc get stuck inside) and their customer service is good! (Should your disc get stuck inside). G4 come with a scratch-proof titanium casing, (really what we need for Ipod) though who really want to scratch their G4 anyway? Oops, I talked too much. (Hardcore droppers, your G4 is really aren’t that hard, just scratch-proof, and if your drop it, the chances of it getting scratched is quite high.)
Anyway, my dream desktop, which is more likely, I am going to build it myself. Specs are as above, maybe a 2.8gHz P4 will do, as the higher ends one tend to make your room a microwave oven. Adding a PCI Express Graphics Card does not help. Maybe I will go for NVIDIA instead for a desktop, as I was an NVIDIA supporter all along. I read all the benchmarks for latest NVIDIA cards from many sources and concluded that Gigabyte cards have the most efficient cooling (card dependent) and temperature near Gpu core is the lowest. MSI and Asus are not bad as well though these few manufacturers' cards are rarely top of the shelves kind. I did very little research on Radeons and therefore I would less likely buy one. For RAM, I want 1gig but due to too much prelims, I forgot which one I wanted to buy. Kingston HyperX sounds good (stable, reasonably fast) but the one I really wanted to buy had slipped my mind. For motherboard I want one that spreads out everything, rather than my one now, (I install and uninstall parts quite often) as I have to remore my AGP Graphics card and two other PCI card and my RAMs just to take out my hard-disk. Maybe it is the casing, not the motherboard. I want all my future drives to be SATA2 while still giving support for native IDE. The rest, there is really nothing much to talk about. I want a casing that I can easily open, (if transparent, I am not going to install neons as that would waste extra energy, but I am likely to put digital thermometers everywhere, MB, Cpu, Gpu even RAM nowadays need a thermometers. That way, I can know real-time how the temperatures are like and can do my future personal benchmarks which in turn make me know even more about parts and then I can upgrade to the best parts. My concern is not speed as usually, high end cards deliver more than enough. Rather, I am going for quality, minimal heat production, therefore eliminating the need for many fans, stable, etc. Hopefully I get it next year. My budget for this com would be around $2000.
Speaking about chio, Ipod Nano is very chio! I would want to have one very much. The internals had been massively and professionally re-engineered and since it is so dense I would hate to drop it. But the ultra-sharp screen, coupled with chio metallic design, it's thinner than pencil body more than captures me. It is simply put, an Ipod photo with a body about your credit card, and just a little bit thicker. (I wonder if they are going to come out with wallets that have a holder for your Ipod and yet you can store your notes and credit cards in.) Go read your Newsweek or Times or go find it online. Surely you'll be captivated, after all, it is so style, glam, class etc.
Yay! I was given the chance to help out with the class page. Yay! Then maybe I can see how the class page looks like in advance. Hmmm, let's use the highest quality that my com can give and make it look much more professional than the rest. I do not think that there would be another computer wiz in the whole level other than Daryl Wong, Jia Ming, Jonathan Chee and so on. (Well, I may be wrong) Sometimes I look at the older class pages of out seniors and it deeply saddens me that they pay so much just to get a blur page, which they are going to keep it for life.
Wow, spent an hour today blogging. Not bad, at least I get to improve my language. After all, I am proud of my Gp essay for prelims. Well, till next time! See you all!
Hmmm,
Just survived my 2-hour long ordeal of receiving my scripts. Nothing much to say. Actually I really don't feel like talking. They are the worse I have ever got in all my exams history, I wonder if I can go any lower. When I got back my first 2 papers, tears had already rushed to my eyes. All my high expectations on myself had been crushed and my confidence crumbled. To cut a long story short, EEFF C6. Hey, my Gp marks which is usually the lowest is the highest this time. The only thing I am proud of this exam is my gp essay actually earned me 30 marks out of 50. That’s incidentally the best I ever got in all my Gp exams. I never even hit 29, 28, or 27, but this time, I had gotten 30. That's all I have to say, catch you all later.
Hi,
Haven't updated for a long time yet again. A lot had happened over the past month and it is very difficult to put them all in words. My keyboard had been very temperamental these days, working only some of the time. So I am going to take advantage of this favourable period of time. Where should I start my entry from?
The past month was like another chunk of time of my life. It was filled with much fun, laughter, joy, despair and hope. I could never hope for another A level's prelims ever in my life, and I am proud to say that I survived it. I hadn’t felt the real 'kick' for a very long time. I was severely exhausted after every exam days, a feeling I hadn't had in a very long time. The last time I really worked hard was in J1 and it paid off. I had been slack for this whole year and so my Maths had severely deteriorated. Not to mention Physics but at least I still understand all the concepts under Physics. Some topics in Maths I really have no idea what they are talking about.
Statistics were hit the hardest as I wasn't listening during lecture, and had no idea what was going on even when I was listening. The week before prelims I had already panicked and tried to understand stats as much as I can. I realize it was too late long ago but didn't have the time to salvage stats as it would be at the expense of other subjects. Maths Paper 1 was all right as it tested mostly J1 topics and some minor J2 topics. The day before Paper 2 I studied stats all day and all night all the way up to 3a.m.. By 1 a.m. I was still largely unsure about stats and I have decided to press on though I know I might under perform for other questions. I regret that I had took some time off earlier that day to play games, but then again, I realized that it would not make any difference. By morning, it was very difficult for me to get up. The eyelids are just too heavy to open. I dragged myself to school though. I tried asking my friends for a crash course in stats but that only ended up confusing me even more. Before the paper starts, I had already lost hope. Therefore, I have lost. Even though questions under pure maths were easy, I couldn't answer due to lack of sleep. Furthermore, I had accidentally skipped 2 easy questions by panicking and turning pages too fast. Being offered the Options was like a sudden light of hope to me. My secondary school Physics were among one of the best and to this day I am still very proud of it, (my JC Physics sucks) surely I could do it. I decided to take the full mechanics option as applied maths also included some stats. I heard the principles behind them are secondary school's anyway, just that the arithmetic is not. I kind of jumped straight in to the mechanics section. The principles behind the questions were easy, but because of lack of practice coupled with lack of sleep, I made silly mistakes and found many equations overwhelming. I could not prove simple things and even things like just calculate the area under the graph I make mistakes. I am pretty sure my Maths paper 2 will not hit above 8 marks, out of 100.
Gp was my other concern. Until this day I still wonder why I could not excel in it. I can make very good essay plans (at least I think so) but when I translate into an essay it is just lacking. It is just so not up to standard. I do not realize that when I write but it becomes obvious when I read my own essay. During exams, I am hesitant to try out 'brave' moves and styles for fear that I make a gross mistake. When I read my essay I just find that my essay lack the air of professionalism, and it is punctuated with countless grammatical errors. I recognize that sometimes I am too critical at agreeing or disagreeing, but in my opinion this makes my stand strong. Teachers see it as biased and one-sided, whatever they like to call it. I do not know why the first time I write an essay from a plan it would turn out very simple and primary-school like. My essay may improve every successive time I rewrite the essay by paraphrasing and replacing some words with more bombastic words, alternating sentence structure to more advanced ones etc. However, there is only time during the exam to write only one version. I do not have all the opportunities to show what I really can do. Furthermore, the simple versions only showed me how my mind thinks; in simple English. Even when typing blogs, or things which I did not do revision and therefore publish only one version, I tend to use casual and simple English. I am simply not thinking deep enough, and I am not making the conscious effort to. I must change. But is 2 months enough?
Physics was another paper I did not want to talk about. I studied the hardest for Physics. Please, the grades really do not reflect what I can really do. I have reflected upon myself and I am not ever going to repeat the same mistakes. I tried the hardest questions first because I recognized I can get the rest of the easy marks with short time. I wanted to keep my fresh mind for harder questions, however, it worked against me. I totally regret it as I had thrown away lots of free marks. It is sad, but it had already gone, so I am just going to learn from it. To everyone, take my words. Always start with the easy questions first and skip the hardest. (by experience)
Biology? Another sorry subject. I have to really write a giant apology letter to my teacher. My results would clearly not reflect the hard work she had put in, due to the sloth on my part. I put biology off during my pre-prelims revisions because I hope that I can load all the day before. Anyway, loading too early you would end up forgetting much. So technically I did not revise at all. When I say the paper, at question 1 I had already given up. Biology is either you know it or you do not know it, no crapping like gp. Sorry! Sorry! Sorry!
Chemistry. I was kind of proud since I attended Chem S lessons and did extra reading on my own free time. It is the only subject now that leaves me keep wanting more knowledge on the subject. I studied hard on inorganic chemistry as I know it would be the most unpredictable one. Somehow I am proud to announce that I conquered every K.K. production Mcq questions. I emerged triumphant over even questions that I really had no idea and therefore had to use common sense. (very tempted to type Chem sense instead.) However, I had neglected J1 topics this time. I do not know how to calculate simple things like percentage dissociation and that frustrates me. Unfortunately, the organic part of the paper was not easy as it was time consuming. By then, I had already realized that I was banging on the wrong thing. So what if I earn all the 20 marks under inorganic? I ended up losing more than 20 under physical. I made mistakes here and there in organic sections. I would still hope very hard for an A but looking at situations, that might not be possible. Anyway, I might know my results in less than 8 hours. Hope for the best.
In a blink of the eye, the prelims had already ended. There is nothing I can do about it but think on how I can improve. This last 6 weeks mark my last stretch towards A levels. I had 2 weeks before prelims, can this 6 weeks help me? Hopefully by then I had learned all the statistics that I need. To a very large extent, I cheer that ACJC had put their prelims before September hols. With relatively more time to prepare for A's, I am already so stressed, so I wonder how people from other colleges are going to survive? I hope to come up with my study plan soon as I am currently studying without a target or a format. I just grab anything I could do and practice on it. This way, I have a tendency to only do the things that I am already good in and neglect those that I do not really know but I really do not know that I do not really know.
The other day I was trying to pack to make my place less messy so that I could study. Anyway, it was an excellent idea since I have to move out by 7 December, throwing away all the rubbish now would reduce the inertia to leave. To a certain extent, I think I am a very sentimental person. I was unpacking a box of papers that contained mostly my Sec 3 stuffs, and I ended up reading them, and then putting them all back in place. I threw very little papers. A lot of very fond memories came back to my mind. I still keep the Hall list that year (I was the hall captain) and the class list that year (I was the class treasurer). I had this Echo issue (which incidentally also feature Thum Ping Tjin or PJ Thum as he is featured in the latest Echo that we are supposed to get yesterday) in which there was a hall report on my hall. Oh how time flies. I really could not believe it. That issue even have our pictures from Li Jiang trip which brought back even more memories.
I remember the hardest part about that trip was that I got Chickenpox over there. Hmmm, I am supposed to have been immune to chickenpox since I already got it much younger, but yes, due to some unknown reason I got it again. (Maybe the one I got when I was young had been misinterpreted.) Other challenges include that I only had two pair of socks that time, (yes, I am that poor) and my thickest pair of pants was a pair of jeans. Bringing just 2 pair of socks is alright because it is very dry and cold so you will never find yourself sweating a single bit. The tough part is even though I wore both pair together and my shoes, stepping on the cold ground actually made you feel as if you are barefooted. Imagine barefooted in a bathroom and then immerse your feet into a bathtub full of ice and water. That is the feeling I get most of the time. The snow mountain part was the hardest and I really could not feel my feet on the mountain. Haha, suddenly got reminded of 'Oxygen man' but anyway I shall not elaborate on it.
The chickenpox really struck me badly only when we touched down in Singapore. Unlike others, I do not feel weak or have fever, but nevertheless the ‘pox’ appeared. Some were very painful as I recalled that part of China was so dry that part of my thigh skin cracked until it bled. Coupled with chickenpox that is not very pleasant. Now, I think I still have 2 chickenpox marks, which are rather large so I think I would never have forgotten the experience. Unlike others too, I did not scratch my pox not because I have high patience and perseverance, but rather, they are really not itchy at all. I actually enjoyed the experience some of the time especially at the thought that I would be missing school for 2 weeks. (In the end, I only skipped one because I recovered swift.) I could wake up at 9 in the morn and watch cartoons on Tv. There is a Tv in the quarantine room and since I was the only one under quarantine it was like my private tv. At night when the medical centre is really quiet I enjoy singing. Somehow the build of the place made my voice 'surround' and it sounded very nice to myself. (I know my singing is lousy, but at least when I listen to it I think it is good) (Anyway, what I hear is really not what you all hear. I really sound very sweet to myself…) I lie in bed all day and as I had yet to have a handphone, no one disturbs me at all. That week was so peaceful and I had the time to really think about life and how to improve.
Gone are the days when I lie down at the grand stand all night, watching stars and just do some plain thinking. I do no think much nowadays, which is probably why my brain is not as sharp. At some point of time in Sec 3, I think I think too much, that's why white hair started to grow, at that same period of time. I had 4 strands then, and that was the way until sec 4. After that, it started to multiply. By mid J1, they were already uncountable. I used to be able to tell which star is which, and which one is a planet, (due to my sometimes close association to the Astronomy club president, Li Jie) but I think now I really lost it all. After all, now I do not have the time to do it anyway. Now I think that is a waste of time and time can be better used to say, practice mcqs or maths. Every second is precious and blogging is the only time when I really use my brain and think. The grand stand is often very windy and it gave me a lot of peace.
Looks like my keyboard is starting to get temperamental again... More about life next time.Wish me all the best for my results and post mortem tomorrow. I am sure I will have lots to blog about.
